Gifts for Valentine's Day
What to get your girlfriend or wife for Valentine's Day
Whether you’re buying for your longtime sweetheart or a naughty little vixen, finding a gift that circumvents the typical clichés, doesn’t offend or send too strong of a message takes some thought. Valentine’s Day means different things to everyone. Some view it as a goofy Hallmark holiday that calls for less serious gifts.
Others view it as the ultimate romantic holiday when you can go all out to show your love for each other. You know your partner best. If you think she will get a kick out of edible underwear go for it. But if you’ve only been dating for two weeks, it’s best to leave the gag gifts and crotchless panties for another guy to explain.
On the other hand, maybe your true love is a die-hard romantic. In that case, nothing but the whole shebang will do (flowers, jewelry, candy, romantic bed & breakfast getaway, etc.). If you fall somewhere in between (you know that gray area of will this make her slap me or kiss me?) here is a list of gifts that should go over well with your sweetie.
Something practical
This Dooney & Bourke Crossword Wristlet is festive and she can use it every day.
Perfume
Perfume shows that you find her feminine and sexy—just don’t buy the cheap stuff! Here are three romantic choices:
Ralph Lauren Romance with Limited Edition Heart Charm
Bond No. 9 New York Bon-Bon Box
Make her beautiful
Buying makeup for a woman is risky business but you can bank on yummy lipgloss to bring a smile to her lips.
Candy Hearts Lip Shine
Jewelry
When buying jewelry for your Valentine, you don’t have to drop big bucks on a tennis bracelet unless you want to. A nice watch or charm bracelet is perfectly appropriate.
Fossil Heart-Accented Dial Watch
Gucci Charm Bracelet
Dogeared Stone Heart “Kisses” Necklace
All the Rage Tilted Heart Necklace
Diamond ring
Now if you’re ready to pop the question on Valentine’s Day but don’t have the bucks to plunk down on a 2 carat Tiffany ring, Fusion by Ezekiel is a new jewelry line that offers contemporary nuptial jewelry without the exuberant price tag. Prices range $1,100-6,000. Available all over US and online at www.fusion-es.com.
Here’s the rule: if you haven’t been intimate, don’t even think about buying lingerie for your Valentine. You don’t know what she likes and the move will come off as controlling, not to mention presumptuous. And unless you are certain that she likes the whole cabaret look, stick to sexy, but not trashy, options.
Calvin Klein Perfectly Fit Bra & Panty
OnGossamer Hip Valentine's Day Panty Pack
Romantic candles
Women loves candles, especially the expensive, fancy awesome smelling ones like the Dayna Decker candle collection or the Aromatherapy Interventions Arousal Soy Candle. She’ll love it so much she will probably light it right away for instant mood-setting ambiance.
Lady in Red
Buying clothes for any woman is like climbing Mount Everest—you almost reach the top, but always fall short. But if you stick to classic pieces like this little red dress by Mblem (Mandy Moore’s clothing line) or the Belisi Tender-heart Tango silk scarf, she will give you a pass all the way to the top.
Mblem Butterfly Twist Bubble Dress $165

Something sweet
Of course chocolates and other goodies are expected on V-day but that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative. It’s all about the delivery.

A homecooked, candlelit dinner for two
Adopt a polar bear, wolf, or penguin
Visit WildlifeAdoption.org and help support Defenders of Wildlife’s award-winning work to save wildlife. Act before 11 p.m. on Wednesday (February 6th), and they’ll ship your adoption kit free in time for Valentine's Day. Women love guys who like animals!

Valentine’s Day is gone for this year. But reading the article kind of kindled some romantic feelings in me. Really nothing beats a heart shaped pendant for the one you love…of course that is only applicable if you are a man. For a woman a similar carving on a bracelet would be a great Valentine’s Day gift for her man. I liked that idea of the Belisi Tender-heart Tango silk scarf. It is a real neat looking scarf. I checked it out on the Belisi Fashions website.
