Men’s Fall Fashion is Conservative Cool

No matter what your political views, everyone is affected by the current economy — including leading fashion designers like Ben Sherman, Giorgio Armani and Ralph Lauren. Fashion designers are taking queues from consumers who reigning in discretionary spending, even if they’re doing well financially.

People with money will still spend it, but given these uncertain times they want to feel confident that they’re making wise investments. When it comes to wardrobe building, people want clothes and accessories that will last more than one season. That means so long to the super trendy and increasingly tailored and feminine fashion from recent runway shows, and hello to conservative cool.

Here’s how to incorporate practical, yet stylish, pieces into your fall wardrobe.

•    Choose high quality pieces that will stand the test of time. Think of your dad’s favorite cable knit sweater or your grandfather’s Navy peacoat.

•    Sticks to the basics. You can’t go wrong with a crisp, white button down and several pair of flat-front slacks in neutral colors. Add personality with colorful silk ties, sharp-looking cuff links and well-made leather shoes.

This is great advice. Instead of 10 inexpensive and forgettable shirts purchase a good quality custom made classic white. These never go out of fashion and always flatter whatever you are wearing. From a formal black suit to a crisp white shirt tucked into khakis, the effect is always positive.

Make a strong but low profile statement, wear a simple but elegant, quintessential, custom designed shirt that is timeless.

I have actually been doing this kind of shopping for a while now. Finding the perfect black skirt and black shoes and sweaters. It's nice when you can wear something for a VERY long time and if I do want to buy those trendy things I go to a cheap store and buy something that is going to last me for a season. I like looking like the women from mad men, sexy and yet conservative. My son just showed me a video on how to tie a tie and I thought it would be extremely useful because I only knew "vaguely" how to tie a tie and know I know how to do it with the dimple http://www.howcast.com/videos/469-How-To-Tie-a-Tie-Four-in-Hand
